Distributed Mobility Control in Proxy Mobile IPv6 Networks

چکیده
In future mobile networks, the ever-increasing loads imposed by mobile Internet traffic will force the network architecture to be changed from hierarchical to flat structure. Most of the existing mobility protocols are based on a centralized mobility anchor, which will process all control and data traffic. In the flat network architecture, however, the centralized mobility scheme has some limitations, such as unwanted traffic flowing into the core network, service degradation by a single point of failure, and increased operational costs, etc. This paper proposes mobility schemes for distributed mobility control in the flat network architecture. Based on the Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIP), which is a well-known mobility protocol, we propose the three mobility schemes: Signal-driven PMIP (S-PMIP), Data-driven Distributed PMIP (DD-PMIP), and Signal-driven Distributed PMIP (SD-PMIP). By numerical analysis, we show that the proposed distributed mobility schemes can give better performance than the existing centralized scheme in terms of the binding update and packet delivery costs, and that SD-PMIP provides the best performance among the proposed distributed schemes. key words: mobile Internet, distributed mobility control, signal-driven, Proxy Mobile IPv6

A Distributed Mobility Management Framework for 5G Converged Networks
A mobility management issue is surfacing again as it is expected that mobility requirements will be very essential and vary with application scenarios in the future 5G networks. An important research direction on this area is to design a flat and distributed control architecture to achieve scalability enough to be applied into the wide-scale real networks. In this paper, we propose a distribute...
متن کاملDistributed Data Path and Mobility Function Scheme for PMIPv6 in Flattened Networks
Proxy Mobile IPv6 is a most promising mobility management solution to pave a way toward all IP-based networks for the next generation networks. Many researchers are paying attention to PMIPv6 because of its network-based mobility feature. However, PMIPv6 relies on centralized and hierarchical mobility management approach that make it difficult to break away from problems such as single point of...

Current IP-level mobility protocols have difficulties meeting the stringent handover delay requirements of future wireless networks. At the same time they do not give sufficient control to the network to control the handover process. This paper presents an extension to Proxy Mobile IP, which is the favorite IP level mobility protocol for the 3GPP System Architecture Evolution / Long Term Evolut...
متن کاملMobility in 6LoWPAN
The IPv6 over Low-Power Wireless Personal Area Networks (6LoWPANs) standard [3] enables heavily restricted IoT devices (such as wireless sensors) to connect to IPv6 networks. It is interesting to investigate how IPv6-based mobility management protocols, such as Mobile IPv6 and Proxy Mobile IPv6 are implemented on wireless sensors using the 6LoWPAN standard. In this paper, we will describe the n...
